What is a Lifestyle Newborn session?
Lifestyle Newborn sessions are generally a 2 to 2.5 hour session
It is a session that captures baby and family members in their natural environment, usually at home,
just doing everyday family things. (sleeping, cuddling, nursing, changing, ect.)
I do a very small amount of posing baby by themselves with cute hats, blankets, bows, ect.
And instead incorporate posing baby on daddy’s arms, or nestled on moms shoulders, or laying in their bassinet.
If you’d prefer more of a studio styled newborn shoot, I know of many talented photographers that
almost exclusively work with newborns that I can refer you to if you’d like.
Also included in the session fee, is 30-40 online proofs
a disc of all of the images
and a print credit for photographic prints or baby announcements.
(It’s the perfect way to share your new baby with the world)
FAQ’s:
1. How soon do we need to schedule?
It’s best to do the session before the baby is 10-14 days old. After this time, they are more active and they tend to be more awake and cranky passed the two-week mark. If you are planning to book, it’s nice if I can have a heads up when your due date is approaching, just send me a quick email or phone call to let me know to be expecting to hear from you in the next couple of weeks. After the baby is born, call as soon as you can to schedule the session. Because I come to you, and because I try to do them as early as possible after the birth, I’m usually able to find a time that works with my schedule and yours, since those first few days new parents don’t have a lot planned anyways besides just getting to know their newest little addition.
2.Do you have a studio to shoot in?
I do not at this time. The way I work lifestyle newborn sessions is that I come to you. It’s usually easier that way anyways, so that you can just be in your environment, and not have to worry about packing a diaper bag or anything. I also enjoy it because it makes each session unique to the individual family. If you are not comfortable with me coming to your home, you can use a friend or family members house, or I do have the ability to rent a studio space for an additional fee.
3. Do you bring props/blankets/hair bows/hats, or do we need to supply them?
I have very minimal props. The style of session I offer is mostly showing you and baby just hanging out in your natural environment and doing everyday things. If you have items that you would like to be included in the shoot please have them available and ready and we will try to incorporate them.
4. Do you offer baby announcements?
Yes. I can custom design just about anything you can think of. Or if you’d prefer to order directly from another site, you may purchase the rights to your images on disc for an additional fee. (5 images are already included) Some websites that I recommend to get ideas from are www.tinyprints.com and www.photoaffections.com.
5. Can we do a family picture also, or is it just the baby in the photos?
Yes you can do family pictures. I actually prefer to have the whole family available if possible and I do a lot of candid moments of family members interacting with baby and just being a family.
6. When will I see my images?
All proofing is done online, and is usually ready in 1-2 weeks.
